LEIHISTORY
Leadership Edge Incorporated (LEI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that began in 1993. John Hawkins is the Founder and President of LEI. The nine member Board of Directors provides guidance and accountability in its overall operation. The organization is based in Durham, NC.
Our principled, lifestyle approach to leadership development attracts students who realize their need for more than just an academic degree. Since our inception in 1993, more than 6,961 university students have attended programs at which they were challenged to go after the adventure of impacting their spheres of influence. We have had 757 students in our extended leadership training courses.
Since the spring semester of 1994, 133 university students have been accepted into our Leadership Edge Mentor Program. This exciting learning experience links top students with business and professional people who are in the career field that the student desires to enter.
Because of Leadership Edge training, students graduate with a vision and leadership skills for their various spheres of influence. As one of our alumni put it:
"The biggest challenges I face on a daily basis involve how to treat people: particularly customers and project teams. Leadership Edge's principles encourage me to focus on doing what is right instead of only what is relevant to my goals. Treating others as you wish they would treat you is not only a virtue, but it is the only way to steer the ship (unless you want to paddle alone!). Most importantly, Leadership Edge also develops the courage to do what is right, not just marching orders. "
